The WHY
My biggest passion is to help people realise their potential and live life to the fullest. This drive of mine started at a young age - hearing adults talk about their regrets and yet not harnessing the opportunities they had in front of them put my head into overspin 🤯
I remember thinking that you could divide the world into two kinds of people: Those who go for it vs those who get in their own way. I NEEDED to understand what mindsets and behaviours distinguished the two - and how we can distil that to help others accomplish their biggest desires.
🎛️ I also loved stories of people who had near-death experiences and reported that, since then, they lived every day to the fullest - like a switch had been flicked. I was determined to find out how to flick my switch. And, I was going to empower others to do the same.
After years of working in research, consulting, and coaching, I discovered that the answer can be found in positive psychology and self-leadership:

Hi, I’m Maike 🙋🏼♀️
I’m the founder of The Flourishing Doc. I’m a psychologist and have done a doctorate specialising in the most effective behaviour change strategies to create change in our lives. I’m a positive psychology lecturer and honorary research fellow at The University of Queensland, a qualified positive psychology practitioner and coach, scientific editor at PositivePsychology.com, a highly-cited author and global keynote speaker.
I’m also a mum of two teenage boys and am travelling the world with my family as digital nomad. I come from a working-class family and have had my fair share of hurdles in life. But I also have a looot of energy, can be a tad loud, and love nothing more than connecting and celebrating life with inspiring humans.
